Today (June 8th) is World IPv6 Day, a day where some of the biggest network and website operators (Google, Bing, Facebook) turn on IPv6 for a full day to test drive a dual stack setup.

We wanted to trend our puppetmaster to give us an idea of the amount of nodes and the time it takes to compile a catalog. Searching on the web didn’t yield the results we needed, so we made our own.

We wanted to give some of our customers the ability to restart some of their own services on their development environment. To be able to do this we made a puppet module.

We, along with some customers, have our authoritative DNS setup with 1 PowerDNS master(which is unreachable over the internet), running poweradmin, and 2 BIND9 slaves(which are ns1 and ns2). This setup works great, but there is a bug in (older versions of) PowerAdmin and one in BIND that together can cause some havoc.

Our OCF script for failovers at Hetzner worked flawlessly the last month. Last week, however, a problem arose we did not anticipate.
